January Update: Live Streaming

January Update: Live Streaming

Happy New Year from The AV Company!

As we begin the new year, we are looking at ways to help our clients reach wider audiences. One such tool that we often make use of is live streaming. Live streaming is great for connecting audiences, be they participants who cannot make it to your conference or friends who cannot make it to your wedding. In addition, it enables you to easily archive your event footage so that it can be accessed at a later time or distributed for training purposes.

Live streaming also allows you a whole new system for structuring your event! For example: Need to get a message out to a large group, but cannot physically get everyone in one place at one time? The solution might be to rent a space, create a set (see below), and broadcast your presentation directly to your target audience! All the participants have to do is follow a link to our online live stream platform whenever it is convenient for them, and they'll instantly be able to engage with your event!

December Update: Projection Mapping Panels

December Update: Projection Mapping Panels

Greetings from The AV Company!

This month, we are taking a look at a fun recent project that allowed us to expand our range when it comes to projection mapping! We recently had the pleasure of working with TEDxCharlottesville again, and were tasked with creating a stage set that would be responsive to the speakers' needs and reflective of the topics being discussed.

We created a backdrop using Wafers from Atomic Design - flat fabric panels with a slight warp to lend a sense of undulation and texture to the backdrop as a whole. Using animated content from motion graphics artist Jonah Tobias, we were able to provide a flexible, visually intriguing, responsive set for this year's TEDxCharlottesville speakers!

Transformation Tuesday: John Paul Jones Arena

Transformation Tuesday: John Paul Jones Arena

Greetings from The AV Company!

Welcome to our fifth installment in our Transformation Tuesday series! This week we'll be looking at an event that we recently completed at the John Paul Jones Arena. Since it opened in 2006, the venue has been home to the Virginia Cavaliers basketball teams, and has hosted countless concerts and other events. It has seating for over 14,000 people, and is the largest indoor arena in Virginia.

For this leadership conference, we wanted to use a large projection screen to accomplish all of the event's visual needs! We needed it to fill the roles of a decorative backdrop, a presentation platform, and a visual aide for audience members throughout the arena.

Take a look at how we use projection to turn this versatile screen into decor, without sacrificing presentation content or clarity! Using multi-window capabilities, we are able to maintain precise control over the content shown, be it an overall pattern, layered images, or a picture-in-picture video stream.
