December Update: Projection Mapping Panels

December Update: Projection Mapping Panels

Greetings from The AV Company!

This month, we are taking a look at a fun recent project that allowed us to expand our range when it comes to projection mapping! We recently had the pleasure of working with TEDxCharlottesville again, and were tasked with creating a stage set that would be responsive to the speakers' needs and reflective of the topics being discussed.

We created a backdrop using Wafers from Atomic Design - flat fabric panels with a slight warp to lend a sense of undulation and texture to the backdrop as a whole. Using animated content from motion graphics artist Jonah Tobias, we were able to provide a flexible, visually intriguing, responsive set for this year's TEDxCharlottesville speakers!

Transformation Tuesday: Opening Night Gala

Transformation Tuesday: Opening Night Gala

Greetings from The AV Company!

Welcome to our sixth installment in our Transformation Tuesday series! A couple of months ago, we showed you how we transformed the Jefferson Theater for a Virginia Film Festival event back in 2012. For this year's Opening Night Gala, we took it up a notch using some new tools.

The goal for this event was to capture the essence of the setting for the festival's opening film, Big Stone Gap. We decided to do so by mapping the interior of the Jefferson with projected video! We utilized autumnal imagery that depicted some of rural Virginia's natural surroundings, as well as some geometric animation for a change of tone as the event went on. We also made sure to highlight the architectural features of the space that make this venue so unique.

November Update: Ceremony Sound

November Update: Ceremony Sound

Greetings from The AV Company!

This month, we are taking a look at one of our favorite tools for providing excellent sound quality, without impeding on the aesthetic feel of an event! Often times, when you attend a wedding ceremony or conference, there are large speakers blocking your view of the bride, presenter, or stage. Well, we've found a solution!

Enter the Bose L1 which is available for rental from The AV Company. Believe it or not, the small speaker you see below is a unique, all-in-one system that delivers clear, powerful sound throughout small and medium-sized venues for up to 500 people. Because it's made by Bose, the sound is even no matter where you are in the room and eliminates the need for conventional monitors, mixers, and PA systems in most cases.

The unobtrusive Bose L1 projects sound forward and to the sides, providing 180-degree horizontal sound coverage and consistent tonal balance as sound spreads more evenly across the stage and into the audience. Due to its slender shape, it is also highly discreet, does not stand out in photos, and will not obstruct views the way many large speakers do!
